When we first decided to set up Mac&Moore one thing we absolutely wanted to do was to champion and celebrate other AMAZING start-ups, freelancers and generally excellent individuals. We couldn't think of a better opening act than Sisterhood. A sassy, eco-friendly kick-ass new clothing brand that celebrates the strong, spiritual independent females of the world.

We couldn't resist giving it's founder Eve a good grilling.

How long have you been freelance/working for yourself #goingsolo?

Around about 4 months now! Actually trading 3 weeks!!

Describe what you do in five words… GO!

What made you decide to take the plunge?

SISTERHOOD!! I had never thought I wanted to go it alone and have my own business, the thought of it seemed crazy and if you’d have told me 2/3 years ago I would have NEVER believed it! I was working as a sole designer on a small brand with one other girl who was the brand manager and we were both under really micro managing directors, it became so hard that it pushed me to dream of being my own boss! It was only with the immense support, encouragement and faith of my then very close friend/ brand manager to say YOU CAN DO IT that I actually started to believe in myself and think why the hell not?! I had all the right contacts and knowledge I just needed that push! I could never have done it without the support of my gals and that’s where the name came from too!!

What’s the best bit about being your own boss?

Knowing all your hard work, time and passion goes towards you!

What’s the biggest pain in the arse?

The same... knowing all your hard work, time and passion goes towards you! Although it’s also the best part, it can also be the worst part! It gets hard to keep up with your own expectations sometimes, but you just have to keep going!

What’s the grand plan/big idea?

WHO KNOWS?! My ideal is to be able to travel with my business, be able to have it as my sole focus (as I also work part time still) and to become a brand who really impresses and exceeds its customers expectations. I’d also like to grow the scale and knowledge of the eco-friendly side of things, there’s a lot further to go with that which I find really exciting!

What’s the best bit of advice you could give to someone about to #gosolo?

If you have the fire for it, GO FOR IT! If it’s truly something you feel in your heart and have the determination for you will find a way, and don’t give in to wanting to give up! (I’ve had many of those moments) When you do something you doubted you could, it’s the best feeling!

Where do you get your inspiration from? (person, place, action)

You know when you wear something and it makes you feel great and really sassy all day, I want to create that! Every woman should feel that!

If we could give you one thing right now (not a wad of cash) that would help your business out the most, what would it be?

Tell people about it!!!! Literally everyone you meet (which I hate doing)! I’d say getting the word out and getting people to trust your brand is one of the hardest things when you first start out! So that please!!

Hindsight is a wonderful thing - discuss.

You are constantly learning new things having your own business, in hindsight, you’re ALWAYS going to wish you’d done something differently, but that’s just life! I say hindsight not always so wonderful! Live for the now!

What’s your favourite quote to live/work by?

I’m obsessed with listening to Jhene Aiko when I work, one of my favourite lyrics she says is,
'If everything was dipped in gold, then it would never grow’

I find this quote massively relevant to so many bits of my life ... not just work!
